To ensure you’re creating the best candle experience, there are a few factors to keep in mind:
- Always make sure you start each burn with a trimmed wick no longer than ¼ inch. Keeping your wick at this level produces the proper wick height.
- Trimming any excess/mushrooming will provide longevity for your candle and you will also notice a cleaner burn with minimum residue to form around the perimeter.
-
If your wick is too long you will unnecessarily burn off fragrance and produce a larger flame that will cause your candle to burn too fast.
In regards to the first time you burn your candle, it is imperative you burn your candle for at least 2-3 hours. In doing so, it will create a full “melt pool” (an even burn the full diameter of your container vessel). By allowing your candle to burn to the perimeter you will prevent any “tunneling” where the candle only burns straight down the center. - Going forward, make sure you burn your candle no longer than 3-4 hours at a time. It is important to give your candle an opportunity to rest and cool in between burns. Doing so ensures that your candle is fragrant each time and not burning off fragrance because of extended burning sessions.
- Be mindful to keep your candle in a well attended location free from pets, children and fabrics. Do not move your candle while lit and blowout completely before leaving.
